		<description><![CDATA[President Obama came out today and declared that the Supreme Court upholding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or &#8216;Obamacare&#8217;), was a &#8220;Victory for All.&#8221; We&#8217;ve been trying to figure out who &#8220;all&#8221; this was actually a victory for though.  It certainly wasn&#8217;t the American people. The American people have just been delivered on a silver platter to the private insurance companies. They have now been told 2 years from now that they must buy health insurance from Blue Cross, United, etc. or face a stiff penalty from the government. A small penalty starting in 2014 ($285 per family or 1% of your income, whichever is greater) and an even larger one in 2016 ($2085 per family or 2.5% of your income). Now add that on with the fact that the IRS will be the one enforcing this law, and you soon realize how screwed the American people really got here. If an American doesn&#8217;t buy health insurance through a private company or a type of exchange, then he or she will be &#8216;fined&#8217; by the IRS. 		<description><![CDATA[Update (June 28, 2012): The United States Supreme Court Ruled in a 5-4 decision to uphold the PPACA in its entirety including the individual mandate. Despite the concern of seperating items in the bill, the SCOTUS upheld the entire legislation. Whether we agree that it should be upheld or not, they did do the right thing in treating it as &#8216;one&#8217; bill and not parts of one. There was a time when the President of the United States was considered among most as the ‘most powerful position in the world.’ While this might remain partially true today, the President isn’t necessarily the most powerful entity in the United States. Maybe on an individual level, but in this modern version of political landscape, it would seem that the Supreme Court holds all the cards in their favor in which the direction of the country may go, especially with many hot issue topics coming before them including; immigration reform, gay marriage, and of course the health care law. 		<description><![CDATA[For the last couple of decades, we have witnessed the Presidential debates become nothing more than media controlled dog &#38; pony shows. Actually calling them &#8216;debates&#8217; is quite the inaccurate term to use. These so-called &#8216;debates&#8217; are more like media controlled question and answer sessions, and that&#8217;s something that needs to change. Since the beginning of May, we have seen nine debates featuring Republican candidates for President of the United States. Nine different sessions in which a media representative asks questions to each candidate and then gives them a set amount of time to answer. If the answer targets another member of the debate, then that person is allowed a timed rebuttal to defend themselves or strike back. This circle repeats itself for a good hour or two depending on which network is sponsoring the debate. We have to ask ourselves though; how is this a debate? What are we supposed to get out of these short-answer sessions with candidates who are running for the most important office in the country. The answer is nothing. 		<description><![CDATA[A recent report on breast cancer shows once again that the LGBT community is lacking in proper health care, but who exactly is to blame?  A look at the politics of the community and the discrimination factor of others, shows that many are to blame, including the LGBT community themselves. A report from Medical News Today shows that there is an increased risk for breast cancer amongst lesbian and bi-sexual women. A lot of the factors involved have to do with a lack of preventative care and other factors that have an affect on the group more than heterosexual women. These factors include things such as smoking, drinking,  obesity, and  a lack of child bearing before the age of 30.  The biggest factor is a lack of screenings to help with early detection. The LGBT community is often times ostracized in many ways, and this is no different than when it comes to the health care industry. Despite the oath of doctors and nurses, there is still a very large discrimination factor involved when it comes to patient care. They do this even though no such distinction exists and in many ways, the Occupy Wall Street protests are a product of both the left and the right. We took a screenshot (right) of the current headline story on CNN which is clearly trying to make the protests on Wall Street and across the nation a matter of the left, instead of just a group of people protesting what&#8217;s wrong with the current economic situation. The article itself even goes on to state: When tea party rallies flared up across the country more than two years ago, conservative activists were mad about bailouts and their impact on the national debt.
