Today’s CNN Poll tries even harder to push the message that Occupy Wall Street is nothing more than a simple political movement and not one of the American people against Wall Street. They have now completely made it about the ‘Tea Party’ vs ‘Occupy Wall Street.’ This is the continued effort to discredit one movement by relating it to another.
As we reported in “Occupy Wall Street vs. The Tea Party: The Media Spin,” the job of the media is “to make its investors money and to keep the shareholders happy. With protests going on all over the country in almost every major city, you would think that something somewhere would have to give, but unfortunately the media doesn’t care about the people. They only care about those who they have to answer to and unfortunately, it’s not the people. Where do most of those share holders do their trading? The same place everyone does: Wall Street. With that being said, the media is just as much an enemy of this movement as the banks and corporations who received bailouts.”
This latest CNN poll is nothing more than a continued diversion to make anyone on the ‘right’ discredit the #OccupyWallStreet movement as nothing more than a bunch of left-wingers who are whining about class warfare and are just too lazy to find a job. You find this message all across all media outlet and has even found its way onto shows like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. With your primary right-wing talk show hosts talking about it, then the only conclusion to be had by those who don’t know any better is that this is a Democratic movement against the Republicans/Tea Party.
This is just one more example of a disservice the mainstream media has done to the American people, and one more area that shows they don’t really give a damn about us and only care about themselves and their profits. We sit here and bash on corporations day in and day out, yet we let them be the ones who deliver our news. People need to wake up and realize sooner or later that the media ‘Doesn’t Care About‘ them. We have reported on this time and time again.
Luckily more people are waking up to this reality every day and just maybe there can be a real movement to demand real change in the media. After all that’s what we are here to do. We are hear to stomp out the mud that they toss out there and then throw the dried dirt right back in their face. This mainstream media needs to be put in its place and sooner or later they will be. A loss of viewers/readers, and losses of advertising revenues to other sources will be a huge wake up call. It may take years and even a decade or longer to do it, but in this world the new media is taking shape. The new media is reporting the real stories with real people. There’s no spin, only what’s right in front of our face. That right there is news. That is what is real. At the end of the day, isn’t that what people really want? Perhaps they prefer to be sheep and have their message spun for them. Only time will tell.
